Columbia, SC — Sources are saying that the House of Representatives is in secret session, hashing out a new bill that would only apply to people from other states that are making South Carolina their permanent home. I’m told that this would apply pretty much to those coming from liberal states and the people who are known, registered Democrats. The bill, SC H4118AF, will be introduced as the Southern Charm Mandate and will become law, immediately upon the passing of the bill.
The bill will actually state that people who have moved here from those certain states, shall not be able to vote until they have learned who their Representatives and Senators are in their districts, the names of the Governor and the Coaches of all the sports teams at Clemson and Carolina and finally, list all the original members of the Marshall Tucker Band, as well as the present-day line-up. If one cannot comply with these requests, then these individuals will not be able to have a valid voter registration for a period of 4 years. If kin to an elected state official, the number of years will be extended from 4 years to 8 years.
Rumors abound that the bill will clear the house on a strictly partisan split, and then the Senate should take up the bill and offer their version of the bill, or maybe even approve as is. However, we think that there will be some riders attached in order that their cronies can profit from this legislation. I mean, what’s the use to have new legislation if these crooked individuals can’t line their own pockets a little more? That’s what really defines this Southern Charm deal. This would also offer another opportunity for the legislators to attach more supplements that would leech more funds for themselves, disguised as road funds, gas funds, and who knows what, as long as it’s for the SCDOT crowd to pilfer.
It remains to be seen if the state Chamber of Commerce will be able to get their grubby hands on any funds that this bill will bring in. Only time will tell.
